Abstract (PubMed)
Updated systematic review and meta-analysis of population-level impact of HPV vaccination programmes. MEDLINE/Embase search (Feb 2014–Oct 2018), 65 articles (40 studies). HPV 16/18 infections in girls 13–19 years decreased by 83% (RR 0.17, 95% CI 0.11–0.25) at 5–8 years post-vaccination. Anogenital warts in girls 15–19 years decreased by 67% (RR 0.33); in boys 15–19 years by 48% (RR 0.52). CIN2+ in girls 15–19 years decreased by 51% (RR 0.49, 95% CI 0.42–0.58) at 5–9 years. Herd effects documented in unvaccinated populations with multi-cohort vaccination and coverage ≥50%. 60 million individuals across 14 high-income countries.
